THE OFFICE
the Office is a British sitcom television series that was first broadcast on BBC Two on 9 July 2001. Created, written, and directed by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, the programme is about the day-to-day lives of office employees in the Slough, Berkshire branch of the fictitious Wernham Hogg Paper Company. Gervais also stars in the series, playing the central character.
The series features David Brent (Ricky Gervais) as the petty, pompous and snide general manager of the Slough offices of the Wernham Hogg paper merchants, Tim Canterbury (Martin Freeman) is a sales rep at Wernham Hogg, at 30, he still lives with his parents. He maintains his sanity by pursuing an improbable romance with the receptionist, Dawn Tinsley (Lucy Davis), and by playing practical jokes on Gareth (Mackenzie Crook)
